Effect of Coupled Inductor on Wireless Power Transmission for Electric Vehicle Charging

Transmission of electrical power from source to a load without physical connectors is termed as wireless power transfer (WPT). As the electric vehicle (EV) has gained attention now-a-days, in this paper, WPT used for charging EVs is discussed. Plugin electric vehicle (PEV) levels of charging was struggling from various issues like range mileage of the car and charging time constraint, as they deliver only household electricity to the electric vehicles, which is termed as static charging scenario. In this paper, online electric vehicle charging (dynamic charging scenario) is taken for the discussion, which can be implemented with the technology of inductively coupled transfer. This paper will focus on the inductively coupled transfer technology with the loosely coupled transformer (LCT) as supplementing the required high frequency inductive link that connecting the source and load at the front and rear ends.
