Evaluation of Thermal Damage of Hepatic Tissue During Thermotherapy based on the Arrhenius Model

Both hyperthermia and ablation treatments are common medical procedures employed to thermal destruction of malignant tumors. Such interstitial techniques are based on the insertion of a needle applicators into hepatic cancer and then applying a microwave heating of such tissue to certain therapeutic levels. The aim of presented paper is to estimate the temperature and Arrhenius thermal damage profiles of liver tissue produced by a multi-slot coaxial antenna with a 50 Ω feed. The changes in microwave input power elevations of used antenna is the simplest way to obtain the tumor heating at the requested level and achieve a state where all cancerous cells are irreparably damaged.
