Sensitivity Comparison of a Cambered Magnetic Induction Tomography for Local Hemorrhage Detection

In the current reconstruction of magnetic induction tomography (MIT) in brain imaging, cylindrical and hemispherical coil arrays are developed to obtain the whole head or a cross-section of the whole head. Since the center sensitivity of these kinds of MIT coil array is poor, an open cambered MIT coil array is proposed to focus on the local hemorrhage reconstruction. Different curvatures of cambered coil arrays were investigated to validate improvement of local sensitivity. Absolute average sensitivity values and quartiles were calculated for evaluating the performance of different curvatures of cambered coil arrays within different regions of interest (ROI). The results show that the larger curvature of cambered MIT coil array can obtain the best local sensitivity for the region of interest with a comparable size. The cambered MIT coil arrays improve the local sensitivity within a range of 40mm from the edge of ROI relative to the planar coil array. Cambered MIT coil array provides an open and more portable way for local hemorrhage detection.
