Evaluation of Two-Sided Feed Scheme Efficiency for Tram Traction network in Novosibirsk

Within the framework of increasing the energy efficiency of the urban electric transport, the task is to compare the energy efficiency of the traction network power schemes by the example of the Novosibirsk tram network. The results of calculations based on the previously developed analytical methodology showed the possibility of a significant reduction in power losses in the traction network when switching to a two-sided feed scheme by simply closing sectional sections. It is also shown that the transition to two-sided scheme allows to reduce the energy requirements of energy storage devices intended for energy exchange of the recuperation. This makes it possible to minimize the balancing currents in the traction network. Thus, it is proved that the transition to a two-sided feed scheme is an effective measure not only to increase the probability of recuperation, but also to increase the energy efficiency of the urban electric transport as a whole.
