Distributed Reactive Power Optimization in Distribution Systems Based on System Partitioning

In this paper, we propose a reactive power optimization method in distributed pattern to minimize power losses and reduce voltage deviations for distribution system (DS). The DS is partitioned into several sub-systems based on electrical distance. Based on the system partitioning, the DRPO model is formulated by applying second-order cone programming (SOCP). The alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm is utilized to solve the optimization problem effectively. Moreover, case study is executed on IEEE-33 system to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.
