Experimental realization of Feynman's ratchet with an optically trapped microsphere

Feynman's ratchet is a microscopic heat engine that was proposed by Richard Feynman. Here we experimentally realize Feynman's ratchet for the first time with a colloidal particle in a feedback controlled one dimensional optical trap.
