EM scattering of electrically large target above sea surface with SDFSM-SBR method

In this study, semi-deterministic facet scattering model (SDFSM) and shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) are combined to analyze composite scattering from missile flying at low altitude above sea surface. This hybrid method can deal with complex electromagnetic interaction between the missile and sea surface, so that scattering properties of composite model with the influence of various parameters (such as incident angle and wind speed) could be studied and analyzed efficiently, which is significant for target detection and high-resolution radar imaging in ocean environments. Accuracy of this method is validated by comparing with computational electromagnetic method (FEKO-MLFMM) for electrically small objects. All simulation results indicate that the hybrid method is suitable for providing preliminary radar cross section (RCS) prediction of electrically large composite models.
