Low loss half mode mode-selective-transmission-line: A new compact single layer guide wave structure for millimeter wave application

In this paper, a new guided wave structure of half mode mode-selective-transmission-line(HMMS TL) for microwave and millimeter wave application is proposed for the first time. The principle of the HMMS TL is described, and its propagation characteristics are simulated. The simulated results at frequency from DC to THz show that the attenuation of these two transmission is less than 0.95dB, but HMS TL's size is nearly half of a MS TL. Thus, we can further compress the size of a microwave or millimeter wave integrated circuit based on this new guided wave structure.
