A novel dual-band resonator antenna loaded with three dielectric slabs

A dual-band resonator antenna (RCA) is presented which is based on the superstrate consisting of three dielectric slabs with low permittivities. This antenna can achieve high performance, such as high gain and satisfactory side lobe levels. A prototype composed of a feeding patch antenna and three FR4 dielectric slabs is fabricated. It resonates at 12.3 GHz and 15.1 GHz. Measurement results show that the peak gains of the antenna can reach 17.5 dBi and 18 dBi in low and high bands respectively with the side lobe levels lower than -15dB in both bands.
