A 16-bit chipless RFID tag with quasi-complementary structure

In this paper, a 16-bit chipless RFID tag is presented with dimension 24×24 mm² and operates at 1.95 GHz-7.15 GHz. The chipless RFID tag consists of the square rings arranged on the upper and lower layers of the dielectric substrate to form the quasi-complementary structure. Each square ring with different length corresponds to different resonance frequency points. The quasi-complementary structure is used to double the number of bits with the same frequency bandwidth. The proposed chipless tag has higher data capacity and lower cost compared with existing printable chipless tags.
