Shielding effectiveness of satellite faraday cages with EMI taped seams and closeouts

Estimates are made of the shielding effectiveness of spacecraft Faraday cages that use composite walls, hand holes for pipes and cables, EMI taped seams and closeouts, and dual thermal-RF shields, in place of older designs with bolted metal sheets for all RF shielding and EMI connectors for all cables that connect to the cage. Degradation of EMI tape by space radiation and 1000s of solar-thermal cycles is described.
