Piezoresistive pressure sensor based on carbon nanotubes/epoxy composite under cyclic loading

Pressure sensors are highly required and used in many engineering applications. However, commercial pressure sensors have many disadvantages in terms of sensitivity, durability and scalability. Therefore, carbon nanotubes/polymer based nanocomposites are intensively being used for force/pressure sensing application owing to their remarkable piezoresistive properties. In this paper, we report an easy-synthesized piezoresistive pressure sensor based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWC-NTs)/epoxy based nanocomposites. The proposed sensor exhibit pressure sensitivity up to -0.7% up to 670 kPa with the sensitivity of 13 kPa^-1, high durability and small hysteresis over 100 cycles. The proposed sensor can be widely used and integrated in engineering systems where pressure/force information is needed.
