Optimization of equivalent circuit model for piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer

As an important tool to study piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers, the equivalent circuit models are widely accepted and used in researches. In order to improve the simulating accuracy of equivalent circuit model and let it reflect the actual structure of transducer more realistic, a new equivalent circuit model of piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer is proposed in this paper, which combines with the controlled-source model and the lossy transmission line model. The controlled-source model is used to simulate the piezoelectric effect of the piezoelectric material and the lossy transmission line model is used to simulate the propagation of sound waves in transducers. The reliability of this model has been verified by pulse echo experiment. Besides, different models are compared by simulation. It is proved that the new model not only can truly reflect the physical structure of piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers but also have a satisfactory simulating accuracy.
