Extended Golden Light Code Design for Parallel Free Space Optical MIMO Communications

In this paper, we consider a 2 × 2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Free Space Optical communication (FSO) with two statistically independent parallel channels. We propose a full rate code construction for this channel model to jointly extract the blocks and the spatial diversity. The code construction extends the Golden Light Code previously proposed for a single channel block and is compliant with the intensity and direct detection modulation. The numerical error rate evaluation shows that the extended Golden Light code outperforms other replicated based coding scheme proposed in literature.
