Outage Management Strategy for Multi-Microgrids Considering Uncertain Islanding Duration

During the emergency period, the multi-microgrids (MMGs) system disconnected from the main grid because of the loss of tie lines. Under this circumstance, each individual MG may be operated islanded, which aggravates the chaos of the grid. Aiming at these problems, this paper proposes a novel outage management strategy (OMS) for MMGs system by considering the uncertainty of renewable energy sources (RESs) and islanding duration. The proposed OMS is based on Monte Carlo simulation method. In each microgrid, a model predictive control based algorithm is proposed to minimize its total cost considering the uncertainty, while a non-cooperative game (NCG) is introduced to increase the total benefit of the MMGs system. When the Nash equilibrium of the game has arrived, it means the system has been operated at an optimal state. Realistic case studies show the proposed OMS can effectively stabilize the fluctuation of the power grid, minimize the load curtailment as well as enhance the reliability and economy of the MMGs system.
