Near-field focused reflectarray antenna at 140 GHz

A kind of reflectarray antenna with the characteristics of near-field focusing at 140 GHz is investigated in this paper. The element is a cross-shaped structure, which is implemented on the TLY-5 substrate and fabricated by the PCB technology. A pyramidal horn is used to feed the reflectarray. In this design, numerical simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the radiated electromagnetic power can be focused in a fixed target area. Such a near-field characteristic of the proposed re-flectarray can be a feasible candidate for the Terahertz imaging and detection in the future research.
