Electromagnetic torque ripple calculation of a pentacle connected five-phase IM supplied by a rectangular voltage

The presented article deals with a steady state analysis of a five-phase induction motor (IM) supplied by a five-legs voltage source inverter (VSI) with rectangular voltages. A complex Fourier-series is used to express the inverter output voltages, on the basis of which the relationship for the inverter output space phasor was derived. Assuming sinusoidal motor winding distribution, on the base of motor parameters the stator and rotor current space phasors are determined. At least the electromagnetic torque ripple waveforms for different operation IM states are investigated.
