Measurement and analysis on audio latency for multiple operating systems

With the improvement of soundcards in digital audio workstations (DAW), it is more popular to use them to deal with the audios in real time. However, audio latency is the main bottleneck to achieve the better performance in such applications, especially in live or open-air environments. The first step to make solve the latency problem is the measurement and analysis on the latency. This paper has provided the latency measurement and corresponding analysis of current popular operating systems. The results show the potential optimizations to improve the performance of real-time audio processing in the future.
