Refrigeration using waste heat recovery from exhaust gas of engine

This paper deals with the refrigeration system by Vapour-absorption method using waste heat from engine as heat source. Ammonia — water Vapor absorption system is used by using the waste heat from the exhaust gas of the engine as a energy source. The engine used here is a motor bike engine, and was tested for various throttle valve positions. The refrigerator steady state temperature was found with respect to system startup and engine throttle valve opening. The cooling capacity of the system that is used suggests there is a need for improvement by calculating the exhaust gas energy. The temperature of evaporator with respect to time, and the Generator temperature Vs Evaporator temperature readings are plotted. The viability and some inferences are presented for the same. The possible reasons for evaporator temperature behavior with respect to generator temperature (exhaust gas) are also mentioned.
