An EMC perspective of the benefits of a seawater antenna over a metal antenna

Compared with the metal antenna, the seawater antennas have the advantages of better stealth, stronger reconfigurability and good compatibility. In this paper, the seawater antenna system is designed, and the simulation model is established. The interference between the antennas and the RCS characteristics of the antennas are studied with different antenna dielectric. The seawater antenna's electric performance under different feed modes is also studied. The simulation results show that the RCS of the seawater antenna is smaller than metal antenna, and the compatibility between the seawater antennas is stronger than that of the metal antennas. Therefore, seawater antenna is more suitable than the metal antenna for crowed platforms. The research can provide a reference for the design of seawater antenna systems, and it can provide a new way to solve the antenna congestion problem in contempory ships.
