Analyzing environmental factors of on-line monitoring of smelting alloy steel using rough set

In order to explore the environmental factors which affect the measurement accuracy of Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) technology by which the content of main elements of the liquid alloy steel is detected during the smelting process, this paper summarizes and lists the factors which effect on the measurement accuracy of the LIBS measurement system in three aspects such as equipment configuration, working environment and data analysis link. Especially, the factors of smelting environment are paid more attention and investigated deeply. Then a rough set-based attribute reduction method is designed to dispose of the data of the selected from environmental factors and screen the key factors affecting the spectral strength among them. The 26 groups of data selected from the known literature are employed to verify the validity of the attribute reduction method proposed in this paper. The computing results show that the environmental atmosphere and temperature influence on the spectral intensity and the measurement accuracy much more than the other factors and the method is effective.
