Design of modified sierpinski carpet fractal patch antenna for multiband applications

Modern wireless and satellite communication systems require antennas of higher gain, wider bandwidth, multiband support and smaller design dimensions. In providing better impedance matching and size reduction, fractal geometry is one of the suitable technique. This allows antenna to operate at different frequencies. The patch antenna with fractal geometry is selected due to ease in fabrication and low cross polarization radiation. In this paper, Sierpinski Carpet Fractal patch antenna (SCFPA) is designed in second and third iterations. The third iteration design of the antenna is modified in order to obtain bandwidth enhancement. The Proposed antenna resonated at 2.6 GHz and 6.6 GHz. The antenna finds its applications in WiMAX and Satellite communications transmissions.
