Optimal reactive power dispatch incorporating gupfc with two stage initialization based symbiotic organisms search algorithm

This paper presents a symbiotic organisms search algorithm to solve optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem with flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) controller called generalized unified power flow controller (GUPFC). In the proposed algorithm the optimal solution with less number of generations is obtained due to two stage initialization process and also it results in reduction of computation time. Numerical results are carried out on standard test function and IEEE 30-bus system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for different objective functions with GUPFC. The ORPD results of proposed algorithm are compared with existing algorithm. The results reveal better solution and computational efficiency of the proposed algorithm
