A self-tuning frequency stability control strategy using virtual synchronous generator

In the field of power electronic inverter control, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technology has been fully studied as the main means to improve the stability of power system in recent years. And the stability of the system power grid frequency is improved by solving the problem of the inertia of the distributed energy grid-connected system. However, when the power network strength changes, the original VSG control strategy can not maintain the system frequency stability. In order to further improve the effect of VSG on frequency stability, this paper analyzes the frequency stability of VSG system when the strength of power network is changed, and studies the factors that affect the change of power network strength. Based on above study, a self-tuning frequency stability approach is investigated. This proposed control strategy considerably improves the stability performance of frequency for the situation in which the strength of the power network changes. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by Matlab/ Simulink simulation tool.
