A new structural property of Costas arrays

We prove a new structural property of Costas arrays by establishing bounds on the number of positive entries in the top third of the rows of the difference triangle of a Costas array. These bounds can be readily incorporated into the logic of any future exhaustive backtracking searches for Costas arrays.
