Exchange coupling effect of nanocrystalline Nd[Dy]FeB/Fe films

The remanence enhancement due to exchange-coupling between the hard- and soft-magnetic layers of sputtered Nd-Fe-B/Fe/Nd-Fe-B trilayers have been published by Parhofer et al. [1]. The aim of this study is to explore the magnetic properties and remanence enhancement of exchange-coupled Nd(Dy)FeB/a-Fe single layer gown by dc magnetron sputtering. Exchange-coupling effect of the two-phase Nd(Dy)FeB films is significantly influenced by the pain size distribution of a-Fe grains embedded in Nd2Fe14B matrix grains. The exchange-coupling limit size of soft Fe grains will be estimated by image analyses with TEM bright field image.
