Performance analysis of transient behavior of PMSG model with sudden load variations: Part-2

Wind energy as an important alternative to conventional energy is providing a considerably good share in meeting the worldwide energy demand and this is growing year after year. Permanent magnet synchronous generator is best suited for direct drive applications in wind energy conversion. In this work the dynamic model of salient pole permanent magnet synchronous generator is considered for analysis. Loads are varied suddenly on pmsg to observe the transient behavior. Resistive and RC load are applied separately and the same were varied for analysis. In the later case resistance and the presence of the capacitance along with the inductance of the machine resulted in a second order model. The model of the case is obtained, solved and the results are analyzed. The response of the machine with R and RL loads is verified with step response of transfer function model of the machine.
