Novel closed loop speed control of permanent magnet brushless DC motor drive

In recent few years, trends of BLDC motor involve in various applications from leading equipment due to higher power density, efficacy, household appliances to industrial drives. BLDC motor has been widely popular due to its higher torque density. It rarely needs maintenance due to its robust design and thereby being more reliable. Inverter fed BLDC motor consists of permanent magnet rotor whereas the back EMF produced in stator windings are trapezoidal. Regardless of commutator and brushes, phase commutation is attained by electronics system of commutation. In this paper, open-loop as well as closed-loop control of BLDC Motor has been described with real-time simulation in MATLAB/Simulink environment and the corresponding results are presented as well.
