Study of AGC in an interconnected power system under deregulated scenario

This work deals with the automatic generation control of an interconnected power system keeping in view the deregulated structure of the power system network. Each area concentrates on the penetration of renewable sources in the power system and hence a solar thermal generator has been considered as one of the GENCO in each area. The classical controller gains have been modified by an Improved grey wolf optimization technique. The analysis of the system has been done under two restructured scenarios namely the base case and the bilateral contraction. The simulation of the proposed system has been done to investigate the role of the deregulated power system in the automatic generation control and maintaining the frequency within prescribed limits.
