Intergranular coupling and activation volume of Co ferrite thin films with high coercivity above 3 kOe

Ferrite thin film media are promising as high-density recording disks because of their low noise level [1]. While there are many studies on intergranular coupling and activation volumes for Co-based alloy films, there are not any ones for ferrite thin films. In the present study, the intergranular coupling and the activation volume for the ferrite thin films were evaluated and the relationships between them and the noise characteristics were discussed.
