Theoretical Design of Perovskite/CdTe Four-terminal Tandem Solar Cells

In high efficiency CdTe solar cells, a thin compact CdS window layer is usually required to ensure the formation of good heterojunction and to allow sufficient sunlight being absorbed by the CdTe, which inevitably adds to the manufacturing difficulties. Here, a four-terminal tandem solar cell with perovskite top cell and CdTe bottom cell is designed and simulated by wxAMPS. The Br content (

perovskite is tuned to match the bandgap of CdS/CdTe bottom cells. In such configuration, the adverse effect of thick CdS can be obviated.
