Predictive algorithm for matrix converter control in wind energy conversion system based DFIG

In this paper we focusing on decoupled power control with rotor energy recovery of double fed induction generator in a wind energy conversion system, by applying a predictive algorithm to derive a matrix converter (MC), which interfaces the DFIG rotor to the grid. A field oriented control (FOC) of the DFIG was realised to derive commutation signals for the MC, which feeds the rotor circuit instead of the conventional back to back converter. Two important aims when using predictive algorithm, the first one is to reduce the number of controller in the chain and the second aim is to simplify the control strategy of the MC for allowing the unity power factor functioning with hypo and hyper synchronous regimes. Performed simulation results are obtained in the Matlab environment and unity power factor is kipped during the operation.
