Digital filtering approach for prediction of hotspot locations using nucleotide sequences of protein

Identification of hotspot locations in a protein sequence has been an active area of research in bioinformatics. The knowledge of hotspot locations or protein-protein interaction and their selectivity can be used to benefit molecular biology, medicine, pharmacology and agriculture. The existing digital signal processing techniques identifies amino acid residues that contribute to protein-target interaction. The particular triplet of nucleotides from which that amino acid residue is coded remains unknown. In this paper, a p-adic model of DNA sequence is proposed which is nucleotide based mapping applied on the nucleotide sequences of proteins. A narrowband band pass digital filter is implemented to predict nucleotide bases of interface residues. The proposed method provides the exact information of nucleotides which took active part in protein-target interaction. The results obtained are better as compared to the hotspots identified in protein sequences using digital filtering technique.
