Modal characteristics of conventional slot and silicon nanowire optical rectangular waveguide

This paper elucidates the modal distribution of electric field for a vertically wired waveguide on SOI platform. Silicon wires in this paper are of 10 nm diameter and the waveguide is called as silicon nanowire optical rectangular waveguide (SNORW). Pattern of normalized electric field for dominant mode are compared among conventional slot waveguide, ridge slot waveguide and SNORW.
