Guiding of wave with opaque masks

We discuss a waveguide composed of identical opaque masks such as slits and pinholes. The masks are aligned along a straight line with equal spacing. The eigenmode wave-functions of such waveguide are calculated using perturbation theory in the case of array of slits and are compared with numerical calculations. Such waveguide can be used to guide waves for which transparent material is not available.
