Photonic crystal fibers with flattened dispersion and ultra low confinement loss

This paper presents two PCF structure with `Y' shaped core. One structure has horizontal `Y' and other has vertical `Y' shaped core. Both the structure reports higher birefringence. Structure with vertical `Y' shaped core has shown flattened low dispersion at 1.33μm and 1.55μm. Structure with vertical `Y' shaped core reports ultra low loss. Besides two structures simulated ensures to be endlessly single mode fibers. However vertical `Y' shaped core promises to be a better candidate for application in optical communication, optical sensors, medical purposes, soliton, supercontinnum generation and other non linear applications.
