Peer-to-Peer Bidirectional Streaming Using Mobile Edge Computing

P2P streaming services that deliver content between peers without using a delivery server are popular. Since P2P streaming does not have a delivery server, it is advantageous that cost reduction and load does not concentrate on a peer, but it is common that peers with short round trip time (RTT) connect with each other and delivery contents. Therefore, there is a problem that the number of hops increases and a delay occurs, and there is a problem of withdrawal tolerance that peers stop viewing and other peers cannot receive contents. In this study, we focus on bidirectional streaming where these problems are noticeable, and propose bidirectional streaming aiming at reducing the number of hops and withdrawal tolerance using edge computing. Furthermore, in this research, we verify the usefulness of the proposed system by simulation and clarify that we can realize reduction of the number of hops and improvement of withdrawal tolerance compared with conventional P2P distribution system.
