Deadbeat current control of permanent magnet synchronous motors using a simplified discrete space vector modulation

A method is proposed for torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motors with lower switching frequency than SVM-based methods. This method takes the advantages of discrete SVM while a complicated switching table is avoided. Owing to the Deadbeat stator current control, the proposed control does not require stator flux estimation. Compared to the conventional Deadbeat methods using SVM operating in linear range of inverter, the proposed method possesses better DC link voltage utilization. Therefore, faster torque response could be achieved. The simulation results for a permanent magnet synchronous motor shows a lower switching frequency than the one of the SVM-based Deadbeat method and a better steady state performance compared to existing model predictive current control method.
