Optimal reconfiguration of PV modules in an array without any constraint on structure by the use of genetic algorithm

Mismatch problem among modules in a PV system is an extreme challenge which reduces efficiency. Reconfiguration of modules is one of the solutions proposed for this problem. In this paper an optimal reconfiguration method based on Genetic Algorithm is proposed. This method considers all the possible configurations and has no constraint on the structure of the array. So there will be a chance to find configurations with more generated power. Also instead of using by-pass diodes we propose disconnecting a module from array. Thereupon proposed method increases efficiency and reliability as reducing cost. For realizing functionality of our method we find optimum configuration for an array with 6 modules under mismatch condition and compare the results with conventional reconfiguration methods.
