Hypervisor based performance characterization: XEN/KVM

For the last decades, the computation world all moved to the cloud computing. It is a new delivery type of model to enable on demand access to network and resources for computing. It is an exciting technology, because it can reduce a lot the cost and the complexity of applications. It is very flexible and scalable. Without the virtualization, cloud computing would be almost nothing today. A key Point of virtualization is the powerful hypervisor. It is the manager of the physical platform and in charge to access all the resources. Choosing hypervisors or any virtual machine monitors is very critical lately. Feature wise the customer has many option because every company is working to get the first in the rank. We conducted a thorough survey on two of the much known open-source Hypervisors named Xen and KVM. Based on results of the research, this paper highlight some major misconceptions about these two hypervisors.
