Dual band characteristics in a microstrip rectangular patch antenna using novel slotting technique

This paper proposes a novel slotting technique of a microstrip rectangular patch antenna to achieve dual band characteristics that may be intended to serve the mobile applications except aeronautical mobile in the C-band and for satellite applications, aviation purpose and space research in the X-band. The design built over HFSS-15 uses a 46 mm × 42 mm FR4 epoxy substrate and employs a coaxial feeding mechanism. Graphical as well as tabulated comparative analysis of the two stage design process in terms of reflection coefficient, bandwidth, radiation pattern, gain and VSWR has been included.
