Effect of compaction pressure on morphology and physical properties for Cu-based produce by using powder metallurgy technique

Copper-based composites have been obtained using the Powder Metallurgy (PM) to synthesize Cu-Al2O3 nanocomposite. The process is carried out through adding the 5% Al2O3 powders which are mixed, compacted and sintered. Axial pressing is one of the methodologies that uses to compact for preparing the green compacts. In this study, the compaction pressures are ranged from 40 into 120Mega Pascal (MPa) for the observation on the Micro-structural analysis that is accomplished by the optical and SEM microscopes which is showed that the reinforcements are well distributed. The reinforcement incremented the hardness from Hv117.083 for 40Mpa to Hv229.413 for 120Mpa. The reinforcement is incremented the hardness from Hv117.083 for 40Mpa into Hv229.413 for 120Mpa. Although, the PM parameter has attenuated the corrosion current density (0.0298μA/cm2) compared to the results of the pure samples. A rise compaction pressure is inflated the hardness, density, electrical physical phenomenon and corrosion resistance of the composite that associated with the reduced of pour space (porosity).
