A low-cost channel feedback scheme in mmWave massive MIMO system

In the mmWave massive MIMO system, it is important to obtain accurate feedback for the channel state information (CSI). In this paper, we consider the multi-user case for mmWave massive MIMO. By taking advantage of the correlation among nearby users who experience similar scatterers, we propose a low-cost feedback scheme in multi-user MIMO through 1-bit compressed sensing technology. After receiving the feedback, one recovery algorithm, which is called perturbed binary iterative hard thresholding, is designed at the base station to recover the full CSI from the compressed measurements. This scheme considers the system mismatch between the transmitter and the receiver, which leads to a difference between the measurement matrices at these two nodes. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is robust to system mismatch.
