Design and simulation for sliding mode control in DC-DC boost converter

Proportional (P), Proportional Integral (PI), Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller are the common control techniques which is not able to execute agreeably under variations of load for dc-dc converter. Hence nonlinear controllers are applied for controlling DC-DC converters. Due to the presence of switching action, switched mode dc-dc converters are generally variable structured systems. Hence sliding mode controller is suitable for DC-DC converters. In the present work, the boost converter is modeled and PWM based sliding mode controller is designed and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK Sliding mode controller and PI controller performance is compared and the simulation results are then analyzed.
