Matched Terrain Processing (MTP): Possibilities for waveform diversity design

A generic technique called Matched Terrain Processing (MTP) has been developed by the author that exploits the ever-increasing availability of high-resolution geo-spatial databases of the earth's terrain to enhance the capabilities of identification and localization of targets. This paper serves to expose the waveform diversity and design community to these techniques, as they can become the basis of both target and terrain adaptive (not just target adaptive) optimization to further enhance the capabilities of MTP. An example of the successful application of MTP is provided in this paper; the conference presentation will cite research directions where MTP can be used in the context of waveform diversity design.
