Multi-site fusion for WLAN based indoor localization via maximum discrimination fingerprinting

This paper introduces a new indoor localization technique using off-the-shelf 802.11n multiple antennas Access Points (APs). The paper achieves better results than single-site localization technique introduced in [1] by using fusion between multiple APs, instead of using only one AP. Moreover, a pre-processing RSSI filtration stage offers a coarse first stage localization, before applying the more complex Signal Subspace Projection (SSP) techniques. This filtration and fusion increases the accuracy of the localization. The introduced algorithm was tested extensively, showing the results of two real indoor environments. In all tested environments, the proposed algorithm was superior in accuracy compared to the case when using a single access point.
