Analysis of the Wireless Power Transfer Resonance Coil Using Different Materials

The magnetic resonance wireless power transmission(WPT) system suggested by an MIT research team in 2007 is hailed as a future technology. We suggested superconductor coils to improve the efficiency of the magnetic resonance system, normal conductor coils were replaced with the superconductor coils. When the temperature of metals decreases, their electric resistance also decreases in some degree but not to zero. Meanwhile, superconductors show zero resistance at any below critical temperature. Since superconducting coil rods have very low resistance values, Q factor value can be 104~107 and accordingly, collection efficiency can be significantly enhanced. In addition, the superconductor coil has more energy storage capacity than normal conductor coils do. So, we confirmed the increase in the Q-factor. In this study. The reflection-coefficient of S- parameter (S11) was analyzed under the mixed use of the superconductor coil and the normal conductor coil. The mixed use of both coils is inevitable in actual applications. As a result, the application of the superconductor coil to the transmitter increased the transmission efficiency due to its high energy storage.
