Algorithms for feedback control of combustion oscillations

Early work on active control of combustion oscillations is reviewed. It is over 15 years since the first laboratory experiments and some ten years since a full-scale demonstration of the feasibility of feedback control to eliminate combustion instability. However, the development of control strategies and algorithms that guarantee performance across a range of operating conditions remains a challenge. Recent work on adaptive and robust controllers is summarised.
