The development of E-leaming user engagement framework for adult learners

E-learning for adult learners is not a new phenomenon. It is an investment for both private and public agencies in order to develop a high skill and knowledgeable worker among their employees. In applying an e-learning for working adults, user engagement is one of the most important elements to ensure that user acceptance and understanding towards the learning process. A good e-learning system not only can deliver the objective of the learning but it also can give a conducive environment to the user to stay with the system in a longer period. However, nowadays many e-learning systems had failed to attract and engage user to use the system. The objectives of this study are to identify user engagement factors in e-learning among adult learners and to propose e-learning user engagement framework for adult learner. Factors identified through the literature search and had been classified into seven themes. Finally an e-learning user engagement framework had been proposed which can be used as a reference by the companies and agencies in providing e-learning courses to their employees.
