A PV fed DC-DC converter for switched reluctance motor driven agriculture pump

The present paper aims to integrate photovoltaic (PV) system along with a DC-DC converter to develop an efficient switched reluctance motor (SRM) driven agriculture pumping system. The proposed DC-DC converter helps in the minimization in the size of an input PV capacitor and ripples in PV current. The motor speed is skillfully adjusted by controlling the DC link voltage across split-capacitors of the midpoint converter of 4-phase SRM. It helps to eliminate the voltage and current sensors required on the motor side. The CCM (Continuous Current Mode) operation of the DC-DC converter supports to minimize the stresses on its components and to improve its conversion performance. The smooth control with reduced initial winding currents are also accomplished via perturbation size and angle control of SRM. The suitability of system is authenticated by both Matlab model response and experimental test results.
